No, I just used them to highlight that your very restricted definition of what "should" be in a strategy war game doesn't really leave room for much, including the "grandparents" of the modern games.Īs for the petty name calling, it doesn't do you any favours or make your argument more persuasive. The fact you just compared what i said to Chess and Risk makes you exactly that. Ultimately it's a matter of personal preference whether you want blood & gore or not, and by doing it this way we both get to play the way we want, and only those that actually incur extra costs pay for those costs. Realistic blood & gore has only been possible in recent years, but modern games can trace their ancestry back hundreds, or even thousands of years. Total War: Rome 2 gets a blood and gore pack, to make up for the lack of blood and gore. If blood & gore was a requirement for a strategy war game to be released we would have no Total War, nor any other RTS or TBS, because we would have no Chess, no Go, no Risk etc. Total War games fall somewhere in between, and in doing so appeal to a wide variety of players. Strategy games and war games portray war in a wide variety of ways, from the abstract to the brutally realistic. By selling the dlc separating they bypass the user rating and are able to keep it at T, thus getting more sales. The only reason CA does this, is because then they can rate the game T instead of M. Originally posted by Grubbs008:Yes it is worth it, because any game about battles and realism without blood and gore shouldn't be released If they had added it as a graphics option and not as DLC, then they could have offered an additional "Even More Gore" DLC for the hardgore lovers with the kind of spectacular effects described above. Id go thorugh it but I dont even know if itll work afterwards. It's that kind of spectacular (and authentic) gore they should have added.Īs it is, it's all rather tame and sanitised so don't expect much. Also, the reason why blood and gore isnt as prevalent in Rome 2 as it was in Shogun 2 is because in S2 the idea behind it was to pay homage to the old and new Japanese samurai and ninja movies which went over-the-top with blood fountains and crazy decaps and dismemberments. Most of the blood mods i find on workshop are either outdated or require this special program to convert files. Same with siege battles - the walls should actually be dripping with blood on both sides. The river should have been blood red, even staining the shore and clogged up with bodies and human remains. When I fought a river battle there were bodies piling up on the bridge, but not a single drop of blood in the water let alone a dead body. I agree it really should have been made available as a graphics option not a DLC. Of course you only get the full benefit when you zoom in, which can be difficult in battles. It adds a bit of colour and cosmetic realism to battles as well as assassinations on the strategy map so does bring a certain violent drama to the action. It’s lame that it doesn’t come in game as an option like any other game but what can you do. It truly is quite brilliant with decapitations and Spartacus like fountains of blood. I see wars, horrible wars, and the Tiber foaming with much blood. R2 and S2 run a lot better, but they are older games.Originally posted by Abu Hajaar:If you care about the theatrics of your battles like I do then yes. CA released the brutal new blood and gore pack for Rome II. It just makes sense to have some form of blood considering they are useing short sweords, ballista, arrows and what not. This mod should help you to have better fps during huge battles. Ive imported blood decals and dx blood effects from Rome II to improve battle performance for those, who are experiencing massive fps drops from Blood DLC. I run Attila at the settings mentioned above at the AVG of 45FPS and min 20 fps while zooming in big battle (specially with blood on the ground). Subscribe to downloadBlood & Gore DLC better perfomance. I can assure you though, that My specs cannot run Attila maxed out with 60FPS. But I'm sure that a $3000 PC with current hardware can do so too.īut what affordable hardware can maxed out Attila with the minimum price? That I do not know yet, needs internet searching. I'm not sure also, will look into it tonight as well.Īccording to CA, only future hardware can maxed out Attila. What system can run attila on max everything? i know there are some optimization probs but need to start pricing for future system and would like some advice? i am not sure what the unit texture setting is currently set at so will explore more tonight. some on performance some on quality and unit detail maxed out.
